A smashing morning to get out and run 5km or 10km. Some say Fun Run I say not so fun run but for sure up for the challenge! A first for a few girls in the 5km today with Zoe running the whole 5km without stopping. Elise, Kristin and Kizza also in the 5km carving it up looking like skittles in their Pioneer shirts. Laura giving it her all and smashing the last 50m to the finish line and had Kristy and I screeming for her at the finish. The 10km group were good to go at 8:45 as we headed over for a warm up. Of course me (Jenna) needing the toilet as always missed the start with Kim and had to chase the pack down. Carla and Kristy leading all Pioneers doing some crazy times that I wont even put up on the website due to the fact that no one could catch them. Liz, Ursula and Helga put in an amazing effort and Kylie took 3 minutes off her last 10km run. Everyone did SUPER well in the run Kristy and I would like to congratulate everyone who entered the run. Next up Gold coast Half Marathon 2012 whos in and who is coming to just watch with me!!

John and Lach
Pioneer Training hit the slopes at Perisher this weekend and it’s obvious how far we have come since last year. Lach made it all the way into the Rollercoaster run at Blue Cow this year, which is a far cry from Front Valley. John was awesome instructing him all the way down the hill and giving him the right lines to take. Bel, Hannah and Kim-Maree went to work constructing our pioneer snow man, whilst Taylah and Brian got busy stacking on the chair lift. Nic, Jenna and I cruised around the slopes practising our moves (stacks) soaking up the beautiful sunshine and warm weather. Gemma and Warren headed down for the Sunday session and copping a huge dump of snow in the morning. Massive amount of beautiful powder on the slopes, hardly any crowds, perfect weekend!!! And the most important thing….another year with no injuries!

Sri Chinmoy 5 Mile Fun Run – Monday 13/6/11

Sri Chinmoy 13/6/11

Our crew were pumped for the race today and with a 5 x lap mile course, it was plenty of opportunity to let those crazy legs fly. Annika was determined for a sub 45min time, and with that determination came the lend of my Garmin watch. Don’t let the virtual man catch you Neeks!!! Kate knocked the first mile out in only 4min30sec and was yelled at by wifey and I to slow down. Annika held the virtual man at bay, and Lach and Helga skipped through the course arm in arm. 4 more on and we got Kates pace on track for a perfect 5min/km pace, taught Annika how to use the watch, and Helga and Lach played cat and mouse, but crossed the finish hand in hand. Well done guys, we were super proud of you, and it’s awesome to have strangers saying g’day on the course, because they recognise us from other races.

Mothers Day Classic 5km/10km Fun Run – Sunday 8/5/11

Pioneer Training had a team of 17 competing in the Mothers Day Classic this morning. There were 30 races kicking off throughout Australia at 8:30am and I’m sure we had the coldest.  However the girls were all smiles and keen to get cracking. Four of our girls were off on their maiden fun runs and with alot of reassuring text messages throughout the last week, a good warm up and quick quiet word, they were ready for that starting hooter. One by one the Pioneers flew around the track and come grinning into the finish line. Goal times were being smashed out of the park by all the girls, and PB’s were getting broken all over the place. I was so proud of you girls, but absolutely beside myself at your results. You definately know how to give Jenna and I big heads, because you girls absolutely ROCK!!!

Jenna and I would like to wish all our Pioneers a Happy Mothers Day! Enjoy your day ladies, feel free to drop the kids off at Jennas house if you would like a break for a few hours. :)

Canberra Half Marathon Sunday 10-4-11

It is hard and scary enough getting out of bed for a fun run being 10km or 5km but to get out of bed and run 21km and it be raining so hard that the rain is going sideways is a huge effort on anyone who did it.  Well 4 Pioneers took the challenge on Sunday morning to attempt goals they had set months ago.  Carla, Joey Kristy and Kim-Maree all rocked up at 6:30am to run the half marathon a first for 3 of them and a few nervous toilet breaks before the big race.  Carla driving from Wagga that morning and then running a 1 hour 55min run, not recommended but an awesome awesome time. Joey who has been on a personalised running program who has been training since before Christmas had set an amazing goal of 2 hours 30min.  As Kristy Kim- Maree and I stood at the finish line we could see Joey 50m away.  As she gave her very best at what could be a sprint after 21km Joey clocked in at 2hours 33mins a HUGE achievement.  A huge Happy birthday to Joey as well who couldn’t celebrate due to having to run this event.   Kristy setting a goal of under 2 hours and months worth of training but being sick for the past week running a 1 hour 59min, I couldn’t have yelled harder for her to get to the finish line a huge effort by Kristy.  Kim-Maree who had run a half marathon before, set out with the girls the only one knowing what was ahead.  Kim -Maree pulled a 2 hour 3 minute time which was not her personal best but with a torn glute (bum) a huge effort.  Well done to everyone who participated.  Now we train for the full Marathon!!!!
