From Friday 6pm to Saturday 6pm we had over 80 Pioneers running their little hearts out to raise money for the ACT cancer council in the annual Relay for Life Event held at the A.I.S track. Personal Bests were broken at the track as we show another year on our clients are getting fitter and fitter. We have raised nearly $8000 for the event with money still coming in. Karen raised over $1000 of that herself as she set the goal to run in every shift of the 24 hour event and with no sleep. Karen made the 24 hours still with a smile and clocked a massive 50 laps of her own. 50 laps equates to 20km, that alone is hard enough let alone ridiculously sleep deprived! Jenna and I applaude you Karen, you are amazing!
We are so proud of everyone on their effort in the event! We had from 5 year olds to 78 year olds running, people who had never run 400m without stopping manage to complete a full lap and super quick times of 1.06 (Jimmy) and 1.11 (Carla). Everyone was extremely encouraging to all their team mates and to the other participants, and another year where everyone at the track was inspired by the Pioneer Team. Our team managed to run 711 laps in the 24 hours, placing us second (for the third year in a row!) out of over 100 teams. Jenna and I are ridiculously proud of everyones personal achievements at the event and thank everyone involved, including sponsors and supporters.
