The Civic girls smashed out a HUGE session this morning. Lucky Kristy and I were feeling nice today due to two special girls sleeping in. It would have been 250 burpees. Some special star jumps from Al and Emelia and huge hits from Kylie and Janja. Great work today girls, so far your dedication to this Boot Camp has been unreal!!

The girls weren’t quite ready for the smashing they got this morning up Pine Island hill, and they struggled the whole hour. Someone must have let around a rumour that they were having a fluffy session after the relay for life weekend! Once Annie was on a talking ban amazingly enough she had a bit more puff in her to get up the hill quicker to try and find Jenna in the dark with all the monsters. Joey and Kiz put a huge effort in this morning, and Alicia and Erin were making up for some forgotten equiptment and were tearing up the road. It was a super tough session girls, and we are proud of you putting in such a valiant effort for the whole hour.
Relay for Life

From Friday 6pm to Saturday 6pm we had over 80 Pioneers running their little hearts out to raise money for the ACT cancer council in the annual Relay for Life Event held at the A.I.S track. Personal Bests were broken at the track as we show another year on our clients are getting fitter and fitter. We have raised nearly $8000 for the event with money still coming in. Karen raised over $1000 of that herself as she set the goal to run in every shift of the 24 hour event and with no sleep. Karen made the 24 hours still with a smile and clocked a massive 50 laps of her own. 50 laps equates to 20km, that alone is hard enough let alone ridiculously sleep deprived! Jenna and I applaude you Karen, you are amazing!
We are so proud of everyone on their effort in the event! We had from 5 year olds to 78 year olds running, people who had never run 400m without stopping manage to complete a full lap and super quick times of 1.06 (Jimmy) and 1.11 (Carla). Everyone was extremely encouraging to all their team mates and to the other participants, and another year where everyone at the track was inspired by the Pioneer Team. Our team managed to run 711 laps in the 24 hours, placing us second (for the third year in a row!) out of over 100 teams. Jenna and I are ridiculously proud of everyones personal achievements at the event and thank everyone involved, including sponsors and supporters.

The Tuggies girls put in the hard yards today as the coped the same session as the Civic girls on Tuesday. After a big warm up the girls were off and let’s just talk about how quick those sprints were ladies, PHENOMINAL!! Those beep test results will be off the radar in 6 weeks time. Great effort this week girls.

A big group for tonight and just when we think we can use the oval, the sprinklers are on. Back on the concrete and a quick sprint session and boxing with weights had Melinda’s arms and I’m sure everyone else’s SCREAMING with pain. Kristy maybe that’s why Jodie had crazy hair this morning at boot camp, she couldn’t lift them!

After a super sized session on Tuesday the girls were put through their paces on Regatta hill with weights and medicine balls. Massive sprints from the entire group and running up a hill backwards doesn’t look hard until the intense burn kicks into your legs. No vomit today but Jess back up like a trooper only one rule now, Tony and Kylie are not to partner up with each other.

Some quick blows to the gloves this morning and the girls were off with one BILLION push ups. Wendy, Sal and Annie tried to recruit Joey to the bad side but she soon realised what was going on. Actually the girls were super great in their training today which makes me think that Swamz is the naughty one after all.
A massive happy birthday for Annie yesterday and a massive happy birthday to Jodie and Margie for today. Sorry Swamz the girls and I ate all the cup cakes. Thanks Ann.
Civic Boot Camp: Week 2 – Tuesday 23/3/10

After having a week off boot camp last week, I was ready to unleash some fury this morning, and the girls stepped up to the mark! A massive session of shuttles runs, 1km repeats, kickboxing and burpees, these poor girls will struggle to keep their eyes open today. Heart rate averages were enormous, and I got a vomit from Jess, who took one for the team. Well done buddy, that is a good sign that you are going to be one of the guns! There were some awesome times for the 1km repeats, with quite a few girls hitting in 4.30 range! You guys are such an awesome group, Jenna and I are super pumped…..if you haven’t already noticed.
