Civic Boot Camp -Week 2: Tuesday 1/9/09

A glorious sunny start to Spring and a lovely day to box and run up a hill! Crazy nutters! A million punches thrown today and a slow start back to hill running as the girls get use to inclines again after 5 weeks in the blue room. Some super dooper fogging for Karens glasses, which is always a good indication that she is giving it her best, whilst Lauren caught hip flexor disease as she went out in sympathy. Potassium girl went well until she got the tingles and freaked everyone out! Connie tried to box with two left hands, whilst Janja is getting quite used to being skinny and looking fantastic and not having to work her butt off every session, I think jenna may need to bring out the weight vest out just to toughen her back up!!! Well done to Kel for sleeping in, hope you enjoyed it buddy as god help you on Thursday….

On our last day of Winter and the weather held out for a smashing session up the mountain. Mt Taylor graced us this morning with interval running. The nerves had set in as the girls pulled up in the car park some having done the hill last week, some a good 10 years ago. With massive encouragement by everyone, the whole group made it to the top and with a good sense of achievement. Well done to everyone today Stef burning a massive 900 calories for the hour, Torrie, Anita burning just under 600 calories.

A wet start to the session, but with a long warm up the group were ready to go. All legs and running today, a super jelly step workout, with the intensity only picking up throughout the hour. There should be a few aches tomorrow, but definately nice toned legs to go with it! Annie burnt nearly 600 calories and showed how much she has missed sprinting with a great display of speed in the sprints. We welcome Donna along to her first x-training, we welcome back Laura and of course for all the bludgers still in bed not wanting to be out in the rain, we welcome you with a million burpees at the start of next session!

What a super finish to Week 1! The girls put in a tremendous effort to last the distance today with nearly 3km of running, burpees, lunges, pushups and sprints. With the mountain looming in the background it seemed to be torturing the new girls as it’s on the list for next week. Even though the girls started off a bit rusty at the start of the week, everyone is right back into the swing of the great outdoors with a marked improvement in running fitness already. Enjoy your weekend ladies and again jenna and I would like to give a massive congrats to our new girls Brooke, Deb, Kirsten and Peta for surviving week 1.
Boxing Thursday 27-8-09

A huge group for boxing tonight as the group hit a solid hour of combos. They started off easy and Kristy had to use Scotty as a demo girl as my gloves weren’t up to scratch! Tess and Leanne going hard as you can see in the shot above, so hard that Tess tried to knock herself out. The last combo of the night set everyone into laughter as an 8 punch combo was set in place. I’m pretty sure half the group made up their own combo!

A great session had by all Janja feeling her holiday and Torrie sprinting her little heart out. Great first week girls.

I’m pretty sure it should have been snowing this morning! The girls had so many layers on but it didn’t take them long before they had to strip them off. Steps and interval sprint work today had some girls tasting last nights dinner. Lucky nothing came up. A huge congratulations to Deb, Peta and Kirsten Who made it through their first massive Boot Camp session. Lets aim high for next week girls there is a little mountain called Mt Taylor calling your names!

After a wild night of crazy winds the messages were rolling in to see if our first session of Civic Boot Camp would still be on. What a question of course we were still on! A keen bunch of Boot Campers current and old rocked up for what was going to be an interesting session with that wind. Boxing, running and legs will have the girls screaming “Kristy” when they get out of bed tomorrow. Lucky no one was blown into the lake. Welcome back Jean, Kali, Janja and Sandy.
