Kathmandu Adventure Race – Saturday 20/6/09

Well as you can see we made it back alive! 3 Pioneer Teams took part in the Kathmandu Adventure race on Saturday in the Royal National Park, Sydney. In pouring rain and the middle of Winter, I’m not too sure what we were thinking as we stood under marquees shivering along with 400 participants waiting for the race to start! And it’s a worry when you are longingly looking at a staircase up a mountain just because you want to start warming up! The course was long, wet, muddy and cold. You start to panic when participants are sitting in the middle of a bike leg with 3 shock blankets around them waiting for an ambulance. And it’s not that the race was physically gruelling, it was mentally tough. Jenna was over it in the first hour, but continued for another 3 before the cold and the bike leg got too much and her and Nic got in the car and left! That was after Nic rolled his ankle 4 times, fell over once, and tripped in three puddles!!  Kim-Maree and I fought the whole way especially on the Kayak leg where we did 3 complete circles whilst we tried to learn how to Kayak, and for the last leg, who in the hell knows how to row a god damn 1950′s row boat! I think we would have preferred to get back in the kayak! But we finished the race, it took us 5 hours and 40 mins, but we got all checkpoints (alot of teams didn’t) and made it out alive! And we didn’t come last! A big congrats to Erin and Mel, who managed to actually like each other the whole race, and came in 10 min before us! Not only can these girls Kayak, but somehow they know how to row???

Bring on the Teva Race! Hopefully this one isn’t nearly all on water or under it!!!

Tuggeranong Boot Camp – Jane Fonda Friday! 19/6/09

This morning was dress up day in anything ugly from the 70′s exercise days, and the girls did not let us down! There were leg warmers, leopard ensembles, g-string leotards and a beautiful wig! So with the dance moves covered but not quite in time with the 80′s dance music, it was a game of soccer and then a big leg and cardio session. The girls found out the hard way that those leotards are not practical for frog jumping—-ouch!!!

For the girls who missed out on this mornings session I have loaded the photos onto the flicker site, so just click on ‘more photos’ in the top left for some hysterical outfits!

A great start to a Thursday morning after a massive vomit session on Tuesday.  Weight vests for all and loads of suicides and stair runs to top off a massive week.  Some girls now up to their 6th session for the week in training, Kristy and I have been blown away with the dedication and commitment in the group.  you girls have been put through some massive sessions and still kept your heads up high.  Great work ladies keep up the hard work.  See you all at Boxing tonight 6:30.

Tuggeranong Boot Camp – Wednesday 17/6/09

After a very entertaining game of Basketball as the warm up, (and yes amazingly the teams were very even thank you Blado) an awesome shoulder charge on Romina from our quiet Bri, and some terrific team encouragement, the girls got through a very chatty boxing, weights and sprints session. Last week I was yelling at them to stop being so quiet and today I was yelling at them to stop gasbagging! I can’t find a happy medium…  however Nats tricep dips made me super happy, god love you Nat, you have the funniest facial expressions ever.

Don’t forget our Jane Fonda Friday Dress ups! Get the ugliest leg warmers, sweat bands and leotards you can! Perhaps Jenna will grace us with her presence? (Had to say something rabs…Ha!)

Civic Boot Camp – Week 2: Tuesday 16/6/09

Well the photo of the girls pretty much sums up todays session… a definite spewer!! These Civic girls were absolutely on fire today, and had a massive session, training specifically in the lactic zone. With only two girls sucummbing to an actual vomit, they still backed up, picked their dumbbells back up and ran again! What troopers! Jenna and I were super impressed with how well you handled it, as it was one of the toughest sessions in civic’s history. Be very proud of yourselves girls, see you Thursday….

Tuggeranong Boot Camp – Week 6: Monday 15/6/09

It was only 6:25am and the girls had already burnt 260 calories as an average between the group. By then we knew it was going to be a big one, but could the group hold out for the session? At about 6:40 the girls were starting to fade and copped penalties as Jenna’s patience grew thin. But after a massive push in the penalty stair sprints the girls had made up for it and had refocussed enough to last the remaining part of the session. Again another big session with Anita burning a whopping 950 calories in 59 minutes! Clearly the reason for all the cm’s going AWOL!!!

Janja started with Pioneer Training in August 2008.  Janja has been very dedicated to her training only missing one or two Boot Camp sessions.  Doing our Civic Boot Camp I convinced Janja that PT would be great benefit to her goals, strength and fitness.  Now training in Boot Camp and Personal training Janja’s results and body shape has changed dramatically.  Janja’s dedication has resulted in a whopping 56cm off her girth measurements, awesome work Janja, see i wasn’t lying when i said this works!  Keep up the hard work!

A small group on a not to cold Saturday morning.  The group put in a massive effort today adding on a a bit of intensity to exercises to what some thought could get no worse. Thrusters, Side lunges and med ball slams with a burpee attached everyone managed the session quite well.  With Kristy in Bed Joyce was begging me to call and wake her up not a good call Joyce i have to work with Swams and you have her for PT.  X- Training is on next week same time same place, Kristy and I will be doing an adventure race in Sydney so Oli will be punishing you next week.

Tuggeranong Boot Camp – Fluffy day – Friday 12/6/09

A beautiful stability and stretch class set to relaxing music and nice squishy mats! Yes Jenna and I have gone soft…but only for one session! We gave the girls a bit of a rest day and a reward for a tremendous 4 weeks where they have smashed some super hard sessions! Although fluffy and relaxing was the theme, there was still alot of difficult poses to hold and Im sure the girls will be a bit tender tomorrow anyway. I hope you all enjoyed the session girls, clearly you found my weakness…I am not elastagirl! We are back into it on Monday, thowsands of calories to be burnt and Im sure another concussion for Jenna.

Player of the week points go to: Linda J -3, Torrie – 2, Jodie – 1.
