Relay for Life Training – Saturday 31st January

30 January 2009 by admin · Leave a Comment

A huge turn out for relay training today, the Pioneer Training Team now already has nearly 60 on the list!!! A new record was set today with a crazy 1min 06sec for the 400m lap! Whatever he had for brekkie this morning, Jenna and I want it. The kids were out in full force today, it’s awesome to have them back again this year! The little ones did the 4am to 6am shift last year, so it was good to see they were even keen to come back! Great to see that the mums and dads are setting such good examples that the kids even want to come to training, a real credit to you guys. We love having families involved.

Remember guys you need to register yourselves via the relay for life website on www.relayforlife.org.au, go to ACT, find team and enter in any of the Pioneer Training teams. It doesn’t matter which one. Don’t forget training is for 90 min next week, bring extra water, and we will bring the shade and oranges!!! See you then.

A circuit of crazy exercises for the group today to spice up today’s session. I sat in my garage last night and pulled all the fun stuff out! Quite a few people panicked when they saw the tractor tyre, but were more than excited to give it a go! The speed shute brought out some crazy quick sprints, whilst the wobble discs and bosu, got people aware of those tummy muscles and their posture. Jenna was getting dragged by the resistor belt as the strength in the group is getting out of control!!! A top session with the group loving the variety, and wasn’t it the quickest hour ever????

Kristy’s PT of the Week

2 months ago                                                                            Last week

Scotty has come extremely close to pt of the week every week, as the effort she puts into her training are a trainers dream. Scottles sets her goals and does everything she can to achieve them, and I commend her on focus and dedication. That is extremely hard to find, especially in someone that maintains it and doesn’t lose interest in such a high level of training. Scotty has now set her lounge room up into her own gym and is now on a 3 day per week weights program, to help rip that trimming body up. As you can see in the photos above the results are speaking for themselves. Scotty’s body shape has changed tremendously and she is now looking the fittest and healthiest she has ever been.

Scotty competed in the Canberra Challenge Enticer Triathlon on the weekend and came 16 out of a field of 32, which is an awesome result for only her 2nd ever triathlon. With an olympic distance triathlon now as one of Scottys goals, this girl has a big year ahead of her! And that’s after she does the half marathon with me!  Well done Scottles, you are a treat to train, even though you are a pain in my bum!

A big finish to a huge smashing on legs this week. With some blistering 400m runs, a thowwwwsand thrusters, and pushups to boot, the girls will be crashing this afternoon. Well done to everyone on such a tremendous week! A big congrats to the girls that backed up from the fun run and triathlon on the weekend and still put in a big effort with their boot camp buddies to keep up. You are all looking fantastic girls, and the speed in your running has improved tremendously. A big shout out to a couple of our teachers for their entertainment this week: a very interesting salt fetish, a awesome commando crawl sprint, and some very questionable knee burns…..

Player of the day points go to: Romina -3, Felecitie – 2 and Rikki – 1

A stinking hot afternoon didn’t deter a large group from braving the class tonight, armed with a spray bottle we took them through a tough kickboxing session. Having to dramatically tone the intensity due to the heat, the group pushed through an awesome and huge calorie burning leg smash. Well done to everyone, and remember heaps of water every day!!!!

After a long Dynamic warm up to get the blood pumping a HUGE sprint session was ahead.  The ladies legs went super fast as Kristy put them all through a pretty tough sprint session. If we all remember how our legs felt after the last sprint session it would be wise to inform the new ladies to stretch stretch and a little more stretching.  You all have improved so much in speed now we will have to start qualifying you for the olympics.  Great work today ladies and remember, stretch.

Player of the day points go to 3 points Kath, 2 points Darci, 1 point Lynda M

The ladies turned out in force today for a beautiful Australia day morning.  Speed, strength and agility today and the ladies proved all of that in a mixture of drills.  Not only testing left and right feet but left and right side of the brain.  A mixture of toys out of the Pioneer toy box the ladies put in 100% for everything.  Great work today ladies and thank you for getting up at 5:30am on a day where you could have slept in, that’s dedication.  Rikki watch out for Kristy’s phone call!

Player of the day points go to: 3 points Sal, 2 points Lynda J and 1 point Stef

My PT of the week goes to Ann.  Ann joined us just over a year ago with Tuggeranong Boot Camp after loosing huge Cm’s off her tiny figure and Ann picked up Personal Training.  Ann was put on a strength program so heavy lifting was on the cards.  Ann’s arms went though some crazy sessions and hard work but good lord i hope you all have tickets to the gun show cause Ann’s arms are the main attraction.  Not only has Ann put 110% into every Personal Training session but taken herself out of her comfort zone and attended Triathlons, white water rafting and surfing.  Ann is fantastic trooper always willing to try new things and take her training to the next level, even if she knows that her pt session will make her sore for the next week.  Great work Ann, look out Arnie!!!

Up bright and early for three Pioneers who participated in the Canberra Challenge Sprint Triathlon this morning.  As Bri entered for her swim her confidence was up and she made the team super excited as she exited the water.  After her massive run to transition she tagged the next Pioneer to hit the bike leg.  A 20km ride through Canberra was the next challenge and the team was pumped as we spotted the Pioneer Training shirt entering the compound.  Darci was the last and final leg as she shot off for her 10km run.  After not feeling well all week, Darci ran the entire 10km without walking to finish off the teams huge efforts.   The girls pumped out a fantastic swim, run and ride and finished on a massive high.  What a weekend Kristy and I could not be happier.  Thank You to all that participated, you made us SUPER proud.

Pioneer Training backed up and participated in another event in the Canberra Challenge this weekend and registered in the enticer triathlon. Richard and Scottles were the only two brave souls to enter as individuals whilst the rest of us took our favourite legs and made up teams. Jenna and I would like to thank Ron for joining our team as our swimmer, as we are to woosy to get in that lake! Congrats to Richard who 22nd out of 37 in his very first ever triathlon! Congrats to Scotty who came 16th out of 33 particpants! Awesome result! Well done to Bec and Kim-Maree who put together some awesome times in the run and bike legs. And to our fish Kath, who hammered the swim and bike and then Ann finished off with a beautiful sprint.

Good luck to Bri, Noni and Darci who are particpating in the Sprint Triathlon tomorrow morning at 6.50am! We will be there in our pajamas cheering you on!
