Soccer – Sunday 23/11

We pulled off another win today, 3- 0, but we fought hard to keep on top of these girls. Again our wayward super kicks got the better of us sometimes, clearly our legs are just way to strong!! But as we seem to do every week, we pulled it together about half way through and got some good moves happening and found the goal. We are gelling really well together as a team, and are finding where we are best suited for on the field, and of course the best bit…giving each other heaps of crap and having heaps of laughs, usually at each others expense!

Great game girls, thanks to Erin and Jane (Bill), for having a run with us.

CPS Triathlon – Sunday 23/11

A massive congratulations goes out to Pioneer Training’s Caryn (Scottles) Scott today who jumped the gun and braved the first triathlon of the season in terrible conditions! Whilst we all are waiting until it gets a bit warmer and we have some specific training under our belts, good old scottles went out and did the entire thing on her own and it was her first ever one! Coming out of the water leg in 3rd place (which is an awesome feat in itself, with everyone trying to drown you to get to the front!), Scottles cruised the bike leg only to come in and smash through the run leg in ridiculous time. Scotty finished 9th in her age division with a great 44min 18sec. Well done buddy we are super proud of you!

There was a brave group that rocked up this morning. Canberra had predicted blizzard, and heavy snow falls, but that didn’t worry some committed pioneers!!! A great all over session that is sure to have a few people walking funny for a couple of days! Welcome to our newbie Nat, who wasn’t shy with the screaming in pain! And congrats to MJ for returning after such a huge session last week for her first time, everyone was extremely happy to see you came back!

My pick of the week goes to my Moto Cross boys, John Prutti, Ron Prutti and Charlie Dale. The boys attend weekly personal training sessions to improve their strength, fitness and stamina to out class their peers on the track week in, week out. With specific training tailored for Moto X, the guys have left a lasting impression on their competitors of how important their sessions are to their performance.

John Prutti boasts a massive winners list, which displays a level of dedication, determination and maturity well beyond his age, and approaches all aspects of his training on and off the bike with the focus of being the best. This young man is being groomed for fame, and we are very excited to be involved in the team!

Pioneer Training is proud to boast that out of the hundreds of riders John Prutti won the 2007 Junior Rider of the Year and Archie won the 2007 Senior Rider of the Year.  A great year for the boys and Pioneer Training! With the boys ripping up the track again this year, we are ahead again and everyone is still looking at our backs!

The girls were taken off music ban today and treated to a disco step and cardio session. Well it wasn’t supposed to involve singing or the occasional break into a random dance, but of course Jenna and I seem to attract the crazy nutty ladies and they were out in force today! A fun session had by all, especially me who was thoroughly entertained by some dance moves constructed by our girls! A great feel good session with heaps of laughing, singing and dancing! Congratulations to Sal and Annie who celebrate 14 years today!

Player of the day points go to: Lee – 3, Carla – 2, and Margie – 1

Boxing – Thursday 20/11

After Jenna and I had been locked up in a room today for 4 hours doing a course, tonights session was ridiculously hyper! The group caught the sillies as well, and I’m sure more calories were burnt by laughing and screaming at each other! For the poor 3 new girls that came tonight, congratulations for getting through a hard session, and for dealing with two hyper trainers! Louise is confident she already lost 1 dress size from just that hour! Yee Ha! Welcome to Pioneer Training! Not only are you losing centimetres, but you will be entertained whilst you are doing it!

Civic Boot Camp – Thursday 20/11

Boot Camp in the pouring rain this morning! What more does one want…. apart from a dry pair of socks afterwards!!! With only one person staying in bed not mentioning any names Kathy, the brave and committed group put in a top effort in a big interval session. The girls short distance sprinting has picked up incredibly in the last 3 weeks and over the 4 week program we have already seen some huge results! Look out by Christmas girls.

Meet Oscar, my 71 year old athlete.  Oscar has been training since February 2008 once, sometimes twice per week.  Oscars goal was to improve overall health and fitness to make everyday life easier.  When i met Oscar he was working 3 days a week as a dentist and struggling with a sore lower back from his work.  With a specific program made out for Oscar within no time at all he was cycling his bike to work (Erindale to Weston) everyday. His work days increased from 3 days to 4 and some weeks 5 days.  His lower back pain is gone and his strength has improved through the roof.  Oscar is pressing 12.5 kg for his D/B chest press and got his first Chin up the other day.  Who ever said age is a barrier hasn’t met Kristy and Jenna yet.  Great work Oscar you are an inspiration to everyone.

Traveling to Canberra for 3 days of sports adventures the group were pumped for what was going to be the pinacle of their trip…..BOOT CAMP!!!! With firm instructions from the teacher to ‘smash’ the group (thirty two 15-16 year olds, talented sports program) we let loose with a ripper session which had all sorts of special comments relayed back to Jenna and I! The girls had the first session and put in a tremendous effort. It was great to have such a committed group of young women who were so willing to jump straight in and give 100%. I was very proud of the girls! With the walk back to pick the boys up for their session, the girls started to let me know which of the boys to give a hard time, clearly the girls got too excited, and one name turned into ten, which then turned into “just smash them all!” Little did the boys know that their session consisted of quite a bit more than the girls, but they did beat the girls in the complaining! If only I had a dollar for every time a boy said “ARE YOU INSANE LADY!!!!!!”  But for all the crap I gave the boys, they put in an awesome effort and it was great fun getting to smash some insanely fit boys!

Thank you to all the students that participated in the Boot Camp session today, you were all amazing! Big pat on the back for turning up and having such great attitudes! We had an awesome time with you and look forward to next session!!!!!!

Points Challenge, there is nothing like a little bit of competition in Boot Camp.  Today the girls were challenged to get as many points as possible with logs tyres and bars.  Arms cardio and legs for 1 hour solid, the girls were so pumped they forgot to ask for drink breaks.  With our overall winners being Kimmy, Scottles and Felicitie second place weren’t to far behind, if only Karla Lee and Romina had done those last lot of burpees.  Great work to everyone though you all really stepped up today.
