Pioneer Princesses soccer team – Sunday

Pioneer Training have entered a team in the women’s 6 a side soccer comp at Mawson on Sunday nights! God help us all. After stealing the ref for about half an hour before the game to learn how to play, we were off and running! Well Geneveive was off and horizontal star jump splatting, and kim-maree was squealing and tripping the other team over. Our team did extremely well and our fitness soon won us the match with the other team struggling as we picked up the pace.Thank heavens we have Kara and Akers who can actually find the goal posts, Kara picked up 2 goals and Akers 1. Not knowing if we will win another game we were quick to head out for a celebratory drink and kicked back to have a few laughs.

Great first game girls, 1 win from 1! Go Princesses!

Dragon Boat Training – Sunday

Our second and last training session was another success and with the regatta in only a week, the team is feeling confident and excited! Going through new top secret tactics today, we upped our speed from last week even with the tidal waves on lake burley griffin today which saw the boat take on water and everyone having to go home after and get changed! Jenna and I would like to thank the team who have gone out of their way to ensure they were at training. You girls are going to rock the place next Saturday! Yee Ha!

All legs for todays session which gave a few people the case of the wobblies! Mixing step work, leg strength, short sprints and 400m runs the group gave a huge effort for a very taxing session. Well done!

Top boxing session with Kim burning over 700 calories…and with a broken toe!

A fresh morning to finish off Boot Camp #7.  It all started off with Swams and I announcing Boot Camp #7 player of the day with Gen winning a Sportsmans Wearhouse voucher only just though with Romina 1 point behind.  Great work Gen!! Look out next time though Romina wont let it happen again.  Carla Kept Bec on her toes throughout the session beating Bec in the 1 -10  time trial but only beating her by a second. Look out Bec some new competition.  Overall a great 8 weeks by all with everyone’s results, times and body shapes improving.  Swams and i want to thank everone for a great 8 weeks.  See you all in a weeks time for Boot Camp #8.

Civic Boot Camp – Thursday

After a cancelled session on Tuesday due to lightening the girls were set up for a huge session with logs, dumbbells and tyres. As this was the first time this equipment was used for the civic boot camp the girls had quite an extensive vocabulary when they got within close enough distance to give me a piece of their mind! Bring it on girls, I love it! A terrific performance from everyone to last the entire session, even when those logs were getting too heavy to lift up, the girls still managed to get them around the course! It won’t be long before you girls know which tyres are the heaviest! And no Tuggers girls…don’t you tell them, let Jenna and I have some fun with them!

Great work today with Player of the day points being the hardest to pick yet! We decided to give Stacey – 3, Janja – 2 and Ann-Maree – 1.

With Fitness testing for this Friday the girls were treated to a games point day today….which also had heaps of running. The girls were put into groups of three for the upcoming 3 games. The first was a 100m dash memory card game with the girls getting right into it cracking Jenna and I up! You girls are so competitive when it’s comes to our points sessions….we love it! Look out for the end of year DVD where we have the last card scrag on video! Bec, Ingrid and Jodes took out the game with 60 points. We then went to coloured ball game where the girls ran off in search of 27 coloured balls ranging in points. Despite Bec finding the 50point ball over the span of 3 football ovals, Gen Anna and Coops took the game out with 90 points. The last strategy running point game found a flurry of competitors running for all different cones but Ann, Kim and Lee stole this game with 55 points!

Player of the day points went to the final scores of all three games in total. 3 points: Bec, Ingrid and Jodie – 177 points, 2 points: Kim, Lee and Ann – 165 points, 1 point: Gen, Anna and Coops – 163.

Bad luck to the other teams, but we had an awesome time anyway! Good luck on Friday girls for your retesting, you will be unstoppable!

Dragon Boat Training – Sunday

Picking the warmest possible times for training for the Dragons Abreast Dragon Boat Regatta  we kicked off training today with the girls soaking up the beautiful weather and a perfect opportunity to start those summer tans, our sweep Drew happily accomodated to the glorious time of 11. The girls set off in the boat with a large number remembering two years ago accidently letting the boat go at full speed into the middle of lake burley griffin without any paddlers aboard! So the job was given to Steph to hold the boat whilst Kim-maree and Kristy were blamed for previous years misfortunes! So with our token male, dennis aboard as video – cam man, we were off and paddling. Within a few minutes the girls were all in sync, which they should be considering  most of them train together 5 times per week!  With Bec and Blado setting the pace as first paddlers we were off.  So with everything under control quickly and the girls smashing through the water we took on a random kayaker for a race! First race we crashed into him, well Lynda, wifey and Ann tried to take him out with their paddles! So we started the race again belting the lonely kayaker  and tearing up the lake so fast Bec’s hat flew off! Congrats to all the first time rowers who picked everything up really quickly. We are pumped for our next training, race day and of course the pool party after!
